Why designers and Web developers should work together?

It seems that it is common sense: designers and developers must work together.

But very often the opposite. While working on the same project, designers and web developers work separately from one another. The designer works to create elements of color palettes and typography that look great while programmer encodes and prepares the material for publication on the Internet. This may cause disharmony between them, and in the final design.

If designers and developers work together on projects from start to finish, the result will be a more coherent web project with excellent aesthetics, user interface and clean code. When there is a process of cooperation has less work and reworking, and it takes less time to complete the project.

Designer vs. developer

By tradition, designer and web developer mean different jobs. Web designers usually use design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to create the appearance of elements and website and then a programmer encodes the aesthetics using HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, and other programming languages, and care work seamlessly after you put online.

Although programmer and designer can work from different offices, and even from different countries, each one needs the skills of the other to create a complete website. Well … you have to work together.

The advantages of working together

Simply put, the biggest reason why developers and web designers need to work together to create a more complete website design. Each segment of the project, from layout till interactions, function better when there is collaboration between developers and designers. (A, now almost impossible to avoid cooperation.

And while discussing the need for collaboration between web designers and developers, not amazed to invite designers and interaction.

The cooperation has many other advantages:

  • A second pair of eyes that will be able to notice the shortcomings and errors
  • Creative expression of ideas and design
  • Fuller experience (because designers can understand that can create programmer)
  • More connected end product in which all parts and whole interaction look like they belong and fit in aesthetics
  • You will learn how the designer / programmer works
  • Integration of ideas for a better version of what the project should be
  • Focus on the mission and objectives of the strand design
  • The downside of working together

Although I’m saying no deficiencies, however it would be too naive.

There are many problems that can arise when working together, but these two will have to consider:

You will have costs associated with the need for all to the same place at the same time, especially if the workers on the same site. Use tools teleconference and online sharing to interact when not all to gather in one place at the same time.
Sometimes people will have different mislanja and will not agree with each other, but adults are not you? Somehow it must also overcome.

What can you do?

Now when you think of all the possible reasons why you should work with a designer or programmer, to see how it can implement in reality. It begins with clear communication.

Web designers and Web developers have to put the project in the first place and in the decision making process always think about the whole picture. You have to understand that once you get fights, but that many battles you have to lose.

The best start is to go out to lunch or coffee with your coworker. Get to know him and his style before you start drafting the project. Expressed themselves that want to work together as a team and set a few ground rules.

Everyone who is involved in the project should contact the other, and often (perhaps it would be good to make an appointment in the calendar of the project). This will make sure that everyone works according to the contract and is not in default. Remember that you must be polite, to offer constructive criticism and be open to others’ ideas. Also cherish the opportunity to learn something new.
